Effective August 17, 2026, PACER will begin requiring users who have not updated their password in the last 18 months to comply with the new password standards.  

New passwords must contain the following:

1.    14-45 characters;
2.    at least one lowercase letter, one uppercase letter, and one special character, and;
3.    not contain any part of the user’s first name, last name, username, or email address.

Users will be prompted to update the password upon login and can skip the process three times before the account is locked. Once an account is locked, users will not be able to perform any activity until the password is changed. Users with shared accounts should coordinate to avoid locking the account.

All PACER passwords must be updated every 180 days.
